Emma Anticlimax will be bringing her “inspiring, scary, and beautiful” zines to the Zine Machine.
“emma anticlimax is a small gray possum who’s interested in writing about media, narrative, abuse, mental illness, and herself. she’s a college freshman in greensboro and probably wants to talk to you about dogs and her love of waffle house” -emma
Evan McIntyre is bringing his rad drawings to the Zine Machine. Evan writes: “I create ink and watercolor illustrations of the city I live in along with animals and various other objects in my life. I draw everything from posters to post cards, and I am working on a few secret booklets that I’m excited to debut at the Zine Machine Fest!”
This just in from legendary cartoonist R. Crumb:
“The promotional flyer for the “Zine Festival” that Christoph Mueller made is a beautiful thing. Do you have any idea how much time and concentration it takes to do a thing like this? There is a LOT of work in this little flyer! To do such an elaborate, tightly executed design — the preparation, the careful planning of the layout, the tight precision of the lettering and borders… Unbelievable. This young artist is certainly NOT AFRAID OF WORK!”

CONGRATS (and thank you again), Christoph Mueller!
We’re excited to welcome Brianna Gribben to the Zine Machine! Brianna writes that she is “a sculptural mixed-media artist born and raised among the pine trees and sandhills of North Carolina. She creates as a way to understand herself, connect with others, and to breakdown cultural expectations around gender, beauty, shame, and the grotesque.
Rio Aubry Taylor will be premiering two totally cool folding zines, Carnitas! and Commander! Ze writes us: “Rio Aubry Taylor is a multidisciplinary cartoonist specializing in psychedelic comics and other weird-ass shit. Ze possesses an MFA from the Center for Cartoon Studies and has been published by The National Cartoonists Society and The Swedish Comics Association. Rio leads private lessons and workshops in Carrboro, NC, where ze is also working on a super-secret/giant project (ask about it!).”
Christoph Mueller, the pen & ink superstar who created the Zine Machine poster, will be winging over from Germany to join us for the zine fest. Christoph is an extraordinary artist, draughtsman, and line smith. Watch him at work right here. It’s breathtaking.
Jolie Day rocks the C-Boro scene and beyond! She’ll be arriving at the Zine Machine with “prints, tshirts, some drawings, at least one canned pizza (decoration only).”
We’re honored and excited that cartoonist extraordinaire Pat Moriarity of BIG MOUTH fame is coming down from Seattle. Check out the PAT MORIARITY HIGHLIGHT FILM!
